The field of therapy is confusing for most of us. There are myriad schools of thought, coupled with several approaches, many of whom claim to be the panacea to the ilk’s of modern living. As a psychologist, it is important for me to meet a person where they are at, and collaboratively move in a positive direction. I also believe that as a professional, it is important for me to be current in my clinical skills and to ensure that I stay current through ongoing education. My main areas of interest have been in couples counseling, trauma, alcohol/substance abuse and risk assessment.

I have intentionally strived to include my past experiences as a spiritual caregiver and mental health therapist into my practice. For the past sixteen years, I have worked with individuals, couples and families experiencing substance use, domestic violence, complex traumas and post traumatic Stress (PTSD). My practice has been built on an eclectic mind, body and spirit connection using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (SP), Polyvagal Therapy (PT), Gottman Couples Therapy, and more recently training in Neurofeedback and Accelerated Resolution Therapy.

For the past ten years, my practice has focused on historical and intergenerational trauma experienced by our Indigenous brothers and sisters and I have witnessed the effects of these complex traumas on the lives of many Cree, Stoney, Blackfoot, Dene and Sioux families. I have worked closely with many survivors of the Indian Residential and Indian Day School survivors. Their complex traumas have had deep and long lasting impacts in every sphere of their lives.

Many couples have gifted me with the opportunities of recognizing the complex trauma networks in their relationships. I have worked closely with many couples who are in the throes of relationship injuries caused by infidelity, substance abuse and intimate violence and have facilitated healing and/or reconciliation/uncoupling in a safe and healthy manner.

I have worked with individuals who have been charged with Impaired Driving and Domestic Violence and have been considered as an expert witness by the Provincial Courts on several Impaired Driving and Domestic Violence cases. My team and I are involved in supporting people to access Curative Treatments after Impaired Driving charges.
